Production readiness is an operating capability
A successful sandbox request proves contract compatibility, not operational readiness. Production approval also requires clear authority, failure recovery, reconciliation, monitoring and incident ownership.
Treat every financial workflow as a stateful business process. Preserve enough evidence to explain what was requested, what the platform accepted, what ultimately happened and how discrepancies were resolved.
Security and access
- Use production-specific workload identities and least-privilege scopes.
- Store credentials in an approved secret manager and define rotation ownership.
- Separate request initiation, approval and operational administration where required.
- Prevent tokens and sensitive banking data from entering logs or support attachments.
Reliability and recovery
- Use stable idempotency keys for retried creation requests.
- Apply bounded exponential backoff with jitter to retryable responses.
- Test network failure before and after the server accepts a request.
- Make webhook consumers idempotent and capable of replay.
- Define dead-letter handling and manual recovery ownership.
Observability and reconciliation
- Propagate X-Request-Id across application, gateway and operational logs.
- Monitor latency, error rate, retry volume and event-processing delay.
- Reconcile internal workflow records against canonical accounts and payments.
- Alert on duplicate business intent, stalled state and unmatched settlement evidence.
- Document incident severity, escalation and customer-communication procedures.
